Composition as a term defines the interaction of objects within a frame. It can be applied to:
the positioning of objects
the distribution of dominants and axes
rhythm
planarity
color work
framing and other logical and geometric connections.
The only thing I would highlight is that light doesn't solely converge on the golden ratio and the rule of thirds in organizing space. Undoubtedly, they subconsciously invoke a sense of harmony, but in my opinion, this effect can be achieved by other methods. It's a question of your exposure and sense of tact.
