Rattan Something

The task set before the architects was to create an exhibition art space for Thai collectors, using local materials. The result was a parametric construction made of rattan: resembling neither a snake nor an esophagus, it almost entirely envelops the internal volume of the building.

The form is reminiscent of AI-generated projects. In part, this is true, as the architects used volume generation techniques inspired by water and clouds. Rattan proved to be quite versatile, allowing for the creation of not only baskets but also complex abstract structures.

In my opinion, the construction is suitable for an art space. However, the focus of the visitors may shift from the exhibition to this unusual volume.
