Yauza is one of my favorite corners of Moscow. A unique spot in the Northern capital with a telling name, Lefortovskaya Embankment, at its center. Besides the high concentration of historical architecture, there is plenty of unique modern architecture here. The futuristic space of Supermetal immediately comes to mind.

An essential attribute of this area is one of the best universities in the country — Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The monumental Soviet architecture of the main building towers over the narrow bend of the Yauza River, dominating the surrounding space. I’ve passed by so many times — it’s always impressive.

Yesterday, the President and Mayor of the Capital inaugurated a whole complex of technological and aesthetically pleasing buildings totaling about 170,000 square meters. This is the new Baumanka cluster.

Following the principles of any self-respecting university, the buildings cover a vast area, and the overall scale of construction becomes clear only after a lengthy walk. I highly recommend doing this in your free time!
