Two "Philosophies" of Architectural Visualization

3D-Visualisation: MIR
Project: Grand Opera House
Architecture: Snøhetta
Location: Shanghai, China

  1. Full 3D — a complete assembly of the entire scene with the project in 3D, except for people in the foreground and midground. It also allows for the fragmentary drawing of details in post-production, such as trees/flowers, etc.
  2. 3D + Matte Paint — a combination of 3D and 2D, either in the form of collages or by hand-drawing directly over the final render (not to be confused with post-production)

We belong to the first category of Full CG. We love and value it for the ability to not be tied to specific angles, while enhancing our artistry through 3D tools, rather than 2D. A bonus is the simplification of assembling animations from the scene.

However, for tasks such as integrating renders into photos, the second type is indispensable.

What do you think, to which category does today’s project belong?
