The last shopping center I filmed was in Grozny, and today I was offered a closer option: Botanica in northern Moscow. The site is located at the intersection of the MCC, MSD, and literally envelops and integrates the Botanichesky Sad metro station into its volume. Hats off to you, architects and engineers.
For me, an important trigger for good composition, and consequently everything else, is the time I spend searching for the shot (the quicker, the better) and how painstaking it is to choose from a batch of finals for publication (the longer, the better). In the case of Botanica, both the shoot went quickly and the selection took some effort.
In terms of structure, I would note two things: an intimate atrium covering almost the entire interior volume, and tiered transitions. The latter are reminiscent of Dominion by ZHA or MAMM but shaped like waves. Thanks to these features, a light multi-level space was created.
