Two "Philosophies" of Architectural Visualization

3D-Visualisation: MIR
Project: Grand Opera House
Architecture: Snøhetta
Location: Shanghai, China

  1. Full 3D#nbsp;— a#nbsp;complete assembly of#nbsp;the entire scene with the project in#nbsp;3D, except for people in#nbsp;the foreground and midground. It#nbsp;also allows for the fragmentary drawing of#nbsp;details in#nbsp;post-production, such as#nbsp;trees/flowers, etc.
  2. 3D + Matte Paint#nbsp;— a#nbsp;combination of#nbsp;3D and 2D, either in#nbsp;the form of#nbsp;collages or#nbsp;by#nbsp;hand-drawing directly over the final render (not to#nbsp;be#nbsp;confused with post-production)

We#nbsp;belong to#nbsp;the first category of#nbsp;Full#nbsp;CG. We#nbsp;love and value it#nbsp;for the ability to#nbsp;not be#nbsp;tied to#nbsp;specific angles, while enhancing our artistry through 3D tools, rather than 2D. A#nbsp;bonus is#nbsp;the simplification of#nbsp;assembling animations from the scene.

However, for tasks such as#nbsp;integrating renders into photos, the second type is#nbsp;indispensable.

What do#nbsp;you think, to#nbsp;which category does today’s project belong?
