Why not "Sweet"? Where is "Upper Novgorod"? Why are they Nizhny Novgorod residents, not Novgorod residents? Why did Muscovites take the original monument to Minin and Pozharsky for themselves…) I was just heading out for breakfast and running through the strangest questions I’ve received about my hometown, Nizhny. About 6−8 years ago, returning from Moscow, there was a feeling of stepping into my familiar little swamp/village (please underline the appropriate one). The version of Nizhny in 2025 demands different definitions.
In my opinion, an exemplary strategy for transformation has been chosen for everything and everyone. The city has focused key efforts on the reconstruction of historical and park spaces, the implementation of abandoned projects, and infrastructure. I wouldn’t say this stage is completely finished — there’s still much work to do; however, based on this foundation, any innovations look appropriate, making the city attractive to both tourists and investors. Developers are eagerly building up prime plots in the city center. Since I have some connection to Nizhny projects, I can responsibly state that local developers (for example, KM or our friends from NNDK) operate at the level of capital giants. By the way, these giants are increasingly participating in landmark projects in the city, such as PIK, Glorax, or again our friends from FSK.
Social projects deserve special mention, such as the ongoing development of the sports component at Strelka with an ice arena, the complete restoration of all tram lines, the opening of metro stations more frequently than in St. Petersburg, city branding, and restaurants. In short, if you haven’t been to Nizhny Novgorod yet — get your tickets for a train, plane, or jump in the car and see everything with your own eyes. Kudos to the esteemed Gleb Sergeyevich! The city is in reliable hands; it’s a pleasure to see!
PS Happy New Year to you! May 2025 be amazing and allow you to realize your boldest ideas!
