Siding, Is That You?

Project: Apartment block
Architecture: Vladimir Radutny Architects
Location: Chicago, USA

The first association with the word siding is often a fence or something utterly devoid of elegance. However, skillfully using color schemes and combining materials can transform even such seemingly dull material.

The substantial facade of the building in the photos hides light and slightly reflective aluminum siding. It also incorporates asymmetrical segmentation of the facade with black-framed glass and a slender fence complementing the main rhythm of the facade material. Altogether, it creates a devilishly attractive box! And it’s extremely cost-effective in construction.
