"Currently, it mainly serves domestic flights, so it's still quite empty." Reading this description, my perception of modesty changed. I immediately wanted to see what Beijing's main airport (Shoudu) looks like. It turned out to be much larger than PKX, but lacks the attractive and intricate forms characteristic of Zaha Hadid's designs.
There are standard functional zones: waiting areas, shops, check-in desks, etc., all under one roof. And all this space is supported by just one column! It's stylized like either a waterfall or a dripping drop of something sweet. Meanwhile, the entire space converges at this point, sending compositional receptors into ecstasy.
It reminded me of the TWA Terminal, built in the 1960s in New York, which we covered in our series on quality criteria. It seems to me it could have been a prototype.
