Architectural Navigation

When analyzing source materials for visualizations, I increasingly encounter navigation in a separate album, even for small projects. Colleagues, could you please advise— is this a new trend or has some special requirement emerged?

This document includes the following items:

• Site plan and master plan;
• Scheme of advertising and information structures;
• Standardization and format of designations with all dimensions, typography, lighting;
• Navigation pylons, etc.

In the context of the article, I wanted to discuss another format of navigation—through the volume and materials of the architecture itself. You can correct me, as zoning architecture through accents is one of the default design tasks; however, I suggest looking at today’s example. This is a school in China where routes are formed through color. Given the scale of the educational institution, this is particularly relevant. We all remember the convolutions of university corridors that are impossible to memorize over a couple of semesters. Now imagine if it’s a project several times larger. The color separation into functional zones allows for native movement within the building and quicker route memorization, plus it looks interesting architecturally.
