Burnt Brick, Nature, and Unconventional Forms P.1

Arch: CCD
Project: DongFengYun Hotel Mi’Le — MGallery
Ph: Ting Wang
Location: Mile, CH

List of the first associations that came to mind when I saw photos of this project:
  • Fort Boyard
  • Clay Pots
  • Coconut

It would be amusing if the client’s brief actually included these items)

It’s important to note that this is not a reconstruction of an old industrial area, but a new construction where, due to the use of red burnt brick, clay, and tiles, a noble patina has already appeared. According to the main architect Luo Xu’s concept, this will only emphasize its authenticity over time.

The slight chaos in the exterior appearance is fully compensated by the organized internal space: starting from the atrium of the entrance group in the form of a "heavenly sphere" to the interiors of the hotel.
