The Foundation of Architectural Concept

Expressing the essence of architectural functionality through form is a challenging task. Often, we have no idea what lies behind the walls of a building until we read the sign at the entrance. Besides the obvious compositional techniques in shaping form, embedding functional meaning should be at the core of any concept. Familiarity with architecture creates a visual and tactile dialogue within us, which becomes even more vivid when the right associative connections are formed in our minds.

Take today’s project, for example (I intentionally did not specify its full name in the header), and ask yourself—what's inside? Even better, write what you thought in the comments!

I had two ideas in mind: either a library or an art space. As it turned out, the second was correct. Analyzing my thought process, the architecture reminded me of compositional studies in search of form and color theory exercises.

A well-integrated idea in a project enhances its value, makes it memorable, captures attention, and adds to the collection of iconic cultural landmarks.
