About Statics and Video

There are many references to hydroelectric power stations on the channel. I’ve filmed it several times and I must honestly admit — it never gets boring. It’s an excellent location for walks and work.

In general, I find static imagery (photos/renders) initially more appealing than video. When creating videos, additional elements that must seamlessly integrate with each other arise. Here, your understanding of composition and color is not enough to make an interesting video. The key differences between static and video include:

  • Detailed scripting and ideation;
  • Variability in compositional decisions;
  • Technical nuances of shooting;
  • Cinematography skills;
  • Significantly increased preparation time;
  • Sound design;
  • Post-production;
  • Equipment and its weight;
  • Software;
  • And so on.

In general, it can be said that in terms of labor, dynamics are like statics squared. But, no less fascinating.
