Burano

In the suburbs of Venice (if one can call it that), there are two curious islands: Murano and Burano. The former is famous for its glass, while the latter is known for its gingerbread houses painted in bright spectrum colors.

It’s hard to imagine the existence of something like this. The entire low-rise architecture is governed by color. These rules apply to everything and everyone here, from the residents to the clothes drying on the lines. Hanging multi-colored laundry is considered a faux pas by the locals.

Here, there is no feeling of kitsch or emptiness that can occur in movie shoots with urban sets. Instead, the island can fully offer a sense of fairy-tale delight, seasoned with a thirty-minute boat ride.
