I once wrote about the importance of environment in unlocking creative potential. Saint Petersburg itself greatly contributes to this, but the Stieglitz Academy is something special. It’s one of the oldest institutions of higher artistic education, having preserved its rich interior since 1876. An astonishing mix of a museum and working studios.
Observing the focused faces of students working in classrooms and walking with sketches along the colonnades with sculptural compositions against a crimson backdrop, I was almost tempted to join their activities.
Unfortunately, I was so engrossed in shooting that I barely listened to the guide, so I can’t share stories about the amazing artifacts housed under its roof. However, I am delighted to share the shoot with you.)
