Not Just a Logo: How Territorial Identity Works

Report: "Territorial Identity. How Cities Develop a Unique Style"
Prepared by: CSP Platform

Today is Sunday — time to read some in-depth analysis. Our editorial team received a report from CSP Platform on territorial identity. An interesting read.

The authors examine why a city’s identity cannot be reduced to a logo, how it is shaped by local culture, architecture and work with communities, and present successful and controversial cases — from Perm and Irkutsk to Kostroma, Norilsk and Vyksa.

One point in particular caught our attention: bringing in a festival or cultural project does not, by itself, create a local identity — for that, it needs to become rooted in the urban environment itself.

We are sharing the link to the full report.

P.S. If you are on a retreat today, move the reading to Monday and, for now, just admire the giant metal hand in a Tashkent business district. We photographed it while the owners of the skyscraper were inspecting the landscaping 😁
