Project: Västerås Travel Center
Placing large architectural complexes within densely built-up cities is a task that requires a special approach in design. It's crucial to maintain a balance between the functionality of the occupied area and its architectural appearance. The latter is usually dictated by the surrounding environment and existing connections both above and below ground. A good example is the recently opened Paveletskaya Plaza project.
Projects situated a little away from existing developments have a bit more freedom in developing their architectural concept. The key in finding the form is the natural landscape. It's important to note that the viewpoints, unlike in an urban environment, are much broader. This requires additional analysis in design and visualization. As an example, I can mention the Gelendzhik Airport project, about which we also recently wrote an article.
