Burnt Brick, Nature, and Unconventional Forms P.2

Arch: CCD
Project: 50% Cloud Artists Lounge Restaurant
Location: Mile, CH

The creatively rich team at Cheng Chung Design has assembled another incredible project adjacent to yesterday's hotel, in a similar style.

This time, the focus is on a restaurant space. Its exterior is a composition of blocks resembling bottles, all made from the same burnt brick.

Interestingly, unlike the hotel, the architects here did not aim to create internal comfort by cladding and filling the interior with "cozy" materials. As a result, it feels like being inside the bowels of a medieval castle. Techniques like total asymmetry, intricate arched vaults, and endlessly high light lanterns only emphasize this impression.

Would you dine in such a restaurant?
