Our new magazine admin, Lisa, suggested at the weekly conference that we provide weekend content for Friday-Saturday publications without deep explorations. I happen to have an unfinished series about the realm of architectural kitsch and ludomania. Meet Macau.
The casinos were indirectly mentioned only by the smiley in Las Vegas. Personally, I have never studied the functional zoning of gaming areas in real life. However, the image from "Casino Royale" with Mr. Bond has always been clear in my mind. How wrong I was—the main audience is not gentlemen in tuxedos with martinis, but Filipinos in flip-flops!
The halls packed with money-sucking machines look grand and epic, but photography is not allowed there. Therefore, I will attach photos of local attractions. Those who have seen the originals will smile, but it is still interesting to observe the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, St. Mark’s, and who knows what else on one street!
There will be another non-gaming part about Macau, but that’s for next time.
