Architectural Purity

Architects: KWY. studio
Project: Desert X AlUla Visitor Centre
Location: Al-'Ula, Saudi Arabia

Pure architecture, for example, can be characterized by:
  • Balanced volume of composition
  • Canonical execution of the classic facade
  • Harmonious use of the color palette
  • Elegant form creation
  • All of the above

In my opinion, the most interesting parameter is the organic integration of architecture into the surrounding space. A well-integrated object will unconsciously attract the eye and become a natural extension of the environment.

Consider the example of a gallery and café project built in the midst of a scorching desert — it might seem odd. But no: the succinct and emphatically correct white volume of the building contrasts devilishly organically with its surroundings. Pure and tasteful!
