The first thing that stands out when studying the project is the flexible composition that connects various blocks of historical buildings. If we set aside the fact that it was photographed by a renowned photographer, the massive structure does not disrupt the overall landscape. The use of parametric facades is always a challenging task for architects. It is more difficult to keep the project within budget while navigating the available variability of compositional solutions. I appreciate the restrained rhythm of the outer facade, especially how it flows into the bionic chaos of the inner courtyard.
Considering that the building functions as the headquarters of the Belgian bank, the openness of the complex to visitors deserves special attention. In this publication, I mentioned that architecture should be a public object. BNP is an example of a commercial bank without barriers or fences. From a marketing perspective, this is a significant and native plus, linking openness and transparency to clients.
PS Taking a break in May is sacred. However, the schedule of recent months has been so tight that the state of being a "seal" feels somewhat inappropriate. The brain refuses to slow down this process on command. Although all planned previews have been submitted and we are moving on schedule with all tasks—sometimes pushing events forward—it still feels like something needs to be done. Let’s fill these gaps with architecture. How were your barbecues?
