The latest generation of Canon RF optics is amazing. The lenses are sharp and fast, and combined with top-tier bodies featuring their magical autofocus, they allow for capturing images more interesting than reality. However, this joy comes at the cost of size and weight. Until recently, I took two lenses for shoots: the RF 24−70 2.8 and RF 70−200 2.8 with the R5 body. After a year of such wandering, my back started sending me fiery greetings. Enduring commercial work and targeted shoots is manageable, but it’s not a daily solution.

After exploring the options, I purchased the full-frame pancake lens RF 28 mm 2.8. The lens dimensions are slightly larger than a default lens cap, the front lens is about the size of an iPhone camera, and it weighs only 120 grams (photo in the first comment). I literally had to retrain my motor skills and grip while shooting.

28 mm is relatively wide, but considering the R5's resolution, I can shoot in crop mode (1.6x), effectively increasing the focal length to 45 mm. Compared to the 24−70, there is a noticeable difference in image quality during processing, but it’s not critical. The camera can be taken along more often, which is the main thing.
