The Gymnastics Palace in Luzhniki has one problem — the graceful shape of the roof encourages people to stop and take pictures right on the "three")

The main facade also arouses great interest, where the wavy roof forms a contour in the shape of a gymnastics ribbon or torch. The author’s team, led by Kuznetsov and Gordyushin, managed to embody an excellent example of associative architecture. The focus is that, without reading plaques and descriptions, it is easy to determine the purpose of the building.

Architects working with glass skyscrapers note that the main puzzle is forming a readable geometry at all visible levels. Here, the Gymnastics Palace also ticks the box. As you approach the main entrance, more and more fascinating details are revealed.

Wavy roofs are found all over the world. Here are a few examples from BIG, F+P, Zaha, Grimshaw. But despite similar solutions, each contour formed by the roof is unique, like an autograph.
